Our standard MOQ for pet products is 200 units per SKU across core categories (beds, collars, toys, feeding, cat products, travel). Custom colors, private-label packaging, or new molds may raise the MOQ. Samples ship the next business day so you can validate quality before committing to bulk.
Buyer checklist
- Confirm the MOQ per SKU (not per order) — our standard is 200 units for core categories.
- Ask what drives MOQ up: new molds, custom materials, or structural packaging changes.
- Check whether multiple SKUs in the same material can share setup to lower effective MOQ.
- Request samples before bulk — we ship the next business day.
- Compare landed cost per unit at different quantities, not just the MOQ number.
- Confirm packaging MOQ separately — custom boxes may have different minimums than the product.
- Ask about reorder MOQ — it is often lower than first-order MOQ once tooling exists.
What to ask the supplier
Minimum order quantity (MOQ) is the smallest order a supplier will accept for a given SKU. For pet products sourced from China, MOQ exists because factories need to cover setup costs â cutting dies for collars, molds for toys, fabric rolls for beds. Understanding what drives MOQ helps you negotiate from a position of knowledge rather than guessing.
As a Chengdu-based sourcing partner working with 60+ vetted factories, our standard MOQ is 200 units per SKU for stock designs with light customization (your logo, chosen colors from existing palettes, standard packaging). This applies across our six core categories: pet beds & furniture, collars/leashes/harnesses, feeding & watering, pet toys, cat products, and travel & outdoor.
Three factors push MOQ higher. First, new molds or tooling â a custom-shaped toy or a new bed design requires the factory to invest in tooling, so they need a larger order to amortize it. Second, custom materials â an unusual fabric or a specific Pantone color may require the mill to dye a minimum fabric roll. Third, private-label packaging with custom structural design (not just printed artwork on a standard box) adds setup steps.
Three factors can bring MOQ down. Ordering multiple SKUs in the same material family lets the factory share setup â for example, three collar colors in one webbing type. Accepting stock packaging with only a logo sticker instead of a fully custom box removes a setup step. And consolidating your order across categories through one sourcing partner (rather than splitting across factories) gives you combined leverage.
Before you commit to a bulk MOQ, always validate with samples. We ship samples the next business day after receiving your specs. Test the material, check the stitching or molding quality, confirm colors under your own lighting, and â critically â test the product with actual pets if possible. A $50 sample can save a $5,000 mistake.
When comparing MOQ quotes between suppliers, ask what the MOQ includes: Is packaging counted separately? Does the price break change at 500 or 1,000 units? What happens to unit cost if you reorder? A supplier quoting MOQ 100 at a high unit price may cost more per unit than MOQ 200 at a lower price â always compare landed cost per unit, not just the MOQ number.
For new brands testing the market, consider a mixed-SKU trial order: 200 units each of 3â5 SKUs in related categories. This meets factory minimums while giving you assortment breadth for your launch. Once you have sales data, double down on winners with larger reorders â our 98% on-time delivery rate across 32 countries means replenishment is reliable.
